An antique American Illinois gold-filled railway open-face pocket watch, made in the USA in 1923.

DIAL: The white enamel dial has thick black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions and inner 13-24 numerals. The dial has blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre Illinois.

MOVEMENT: The anchor lever movement has 21 jewels with a swan regulator. The movement is signed: “Bunn Special, Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, 21 Jewels, Adjusted Temp and Six Positions” and numbered: 4349863. As this pocket watch has a very high movement and is fully screwed, a watchmaker can make this pocket watch work with full accuracy! This watch has just come back from the watchmaker and the movement is in great working condition however, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of an antique pocket watch.

CASE: The watch lies in a gold-filled open-face case with a screw case front and the back with a smooth finish. The inner side of the case is signed: “Ball Model BALCO” and numbered: 3561843.

Please note: to set the time of the watch you need to open the front screw back case and pull out the lever at the one/two and turn the winder to set the correct time.  This method was done specially for the guards travelling on a train for the safety of the people so that they could keep exactly the accurate time. Never pull on the winder as this can break the watch.
