An antique Hamilton Art Deco steel military open-face pocket watch, made in the USA in 1942. This type of watch was also used in the US Air Force Navigation during the Second World War.

Dial: The black dial has white luminous Arabic 24-hour numerals with outer five-minute divisions and centre seconds. The dial has white luminous hands. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “GCT”. (GCT - Abbreviation for Greenwich Civil Time).

Movement: The very high-quality anchor lever movement has 22 jewels with a swan regulator. The movement is in great working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch. The movement is signed: “Hamilton Watch Co, USA, 22 Jewels, 4992B, Adj Temp And 6 Positions”. Movement number is: 4040556.

When the winding button is pulled to set the hands, a fine detent stops the balance, which is restarted when the button is pushed down again. This was made specially to get precision.

Case: The watch lies in a steel open face case with screw case both back and front. The inner side of the case is signed: “Keystone, Base Metal” and numbered: 759285.

Signed: Hamilton Watch Co - U.S.A.- 1942

Diameter: 52mm - Weight: 109 g

History of Hamilton: Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and by 1912, the first series of pocket watches was being produced, aimed at railroad workers to reduce the number of accidents caused by different timekeeping devices of unreliable accuracy. During the Second World War, Hamilton stopped producing watches for the public and focused on providing the US forces with over one million timepieces.
